Community input is crucial to ensuring you’re adequately represented by your Mayor, Council, and Township staff. If you’re not permitted to speak – how can the Township possibly address what matters most to you?
Currently residents are only permitted to speak at the end of Council meetings in the form of one brief question which must directly relate to an item on the agenda. Not only does this limit public input, it forbids residents to speak until after Council has already voted on your behalf.
Even if your question is heard, it’s too-little-too-late. The vote that impacts your future has already taken place!
As it stands, civic engagement is not only discouraged…
It’s practically forbidden.
As Mayor, Cody Pierce will champion the people’s right to participate in public meetings in an orderly and structured fashion. Public dialogue will not just be tolerated – it will be actively encouraged.
